The story of Oakland A’s general manager Billy Beane’s successful attempt to put together a baseball club on a budget by employing computer-generated analysis to draft his players. – IMDB.com

My Review:
Overall I thought the movie was fairly good. However, straight from the beginning the characters dig themselves into a huge hole with the team. The movie took a while before they finally caught a break and the story pulled together. Solid performances by both Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill. It was different to see Jonah Hill in a serious role like this.

During experiments to find a cure for Alzheimer’s disease, a genetically-enhanced chimpanzee uses its greater intelligence to lead other apes to freedom. – IMDB.com

My Review:
I was pleasantly surprised with how entertaining this movie was. I have not seen the first (original or remake) movie. The only downside to the movie was the heavy use of CGI. At times it was just too much.

My Review:
The boys are back and wrecking even more havoc this time. If you enjoyed The Hangover, you will no doubt enjoy this movie. Even though this movie presents some pretty far-fetched events compared to the first movie, you’ll still be laughing throughout the entire movie.

Sidney Prescott, now the author of a self-help book, returns home to Woodsboro on the last stop of her book tour. There she reconnects with Sheriff Dewey and Gale, who are now married, as well as her cousin Jill and her Aunt Kate. Unfortunately, Sidney’s appearance also brings about the return of Ghostface, putting Sidney, Gale, and Dewey, along with Jill, her friends, and the whole town of Woodsboro in danger. – IMDB.com

My Review:
Ahh yes. Another Scream movie. For about 75% of the movie you’re confident you know who the killer is… and you’ll think the movie sucks, but it will get better. The movie feels a little drawn out at the end and I believe it could have been cleaned up a bit. If you enjoyed the first 3 Scream movies, you won’t be disappointed.

Johnny Knoxville and his buddies are up to their daredevil comic antics again. And this time they’re coming at ya’ in 3D. – Paramount

My Review:
If you enjoyed the first two movies, you’ll enjoy Jackass 3D. Expect the usual antics, don’t eat before going. If you have a weak stomach either stay home or bring a bag with you, you might need it. The movie moves fast and having you wanting for more pranks and crazy stunts.

I have a lot of history with Facebook. I’ve been using it since my college was first able to join (November-ish 2004), and now I use it a lot at work to help develop pages for various nonprofits. I’ve pretty much seen it grow from an exclusive college social network into the biggest site of our time. Over time I’ve learned of its complete history and the struggles and hurdles it came across in developing the project itself.

So, when I heard that there would be a movie based on Facebook, I knew I had to see it. Overall, it met all my expectations and Facebook aside, it was a great movie.

Plot:
Every age has its visionaries who leave, in the wake of their genius, a changed world – but rarely without a battle over exactly what happened and who was there at the moment of creation. The Social Network explores the moment at which Facebook was invented — through the warring perspectives of the super-smart young men who each claimed to be there at its inception. The film moves from the halls of Harvard to the cubicles of Palo Alto to capture the heady early days of a culture-changing phenomenon in the making — and the way it both pulled a group of young revolutionaries together and then split them apart. In the midst of the chaos are Mark Zuckerberg (Jesse Eisenberg), the brilliant Harvard student who conceived a website; Eduardo Saverin (Andrew Garfield), once Zuckerberg’s close friend, who provided the seed money for the fledgling company; Napster founder Sean Parker (Justin Timberlake) who brought Facebook to Silicon Valley’s venture capitalists; and the Winklevoss twins (Armie Hammer and Josh Pence), the Harvard classmates who asserted that Zuckerberg stole their idea and then sued him for ownership of it. Each has his own narrative, his own version of the Facebook story in this multi-level portrait of 21st Century success – both the youthful fantasy of it and its finite realities as well. (From IMDB.com)

My Review:
A solid movie whether you’re a Facebook fan or not. Lots of drama from start to finish. Is Mark Zuckerberg really that big of a douchebag?

I ended up seeing “Get Him to the Greek” today with one of my friends. Check out my review below to see if its worth your time.

Plot:

Aaron Greenberg (Jonah Hill) gets things done. The ambitious 23-year-old has exaggerated his way into a dream job just in time for a career-making assignment. His mission: Fly to London and escort a rock god to L.A.s Greek Theatre for the first-stop on a $100-million tour. His warning: Turn your back on him at your own peril. British rocker Aldous Snow (Russell Brand) is both a brilliant musician and walking sex. Weary of yes men and piles of money, the former front man is searching for the meaning of life. But that doesnt mean he cant have a few orgies while he finds it. When he learns his true love is in California, Aldous makes it his quest to win her backright before kick-starting his world domination.

As the countdown to the concert begins, one intern must navigate a minefield of London drug smuggles, New York City brawls and Vegas lap dances to deliver his charge safe and, sort of, sound. He may have to coax, lie to, enable and party with Aldous, but Aaron will get him to the Greek. (From IMDB.com)

My Review:
I wasn’t sure what to expect when walking into the theater. The previews looked good, but sometimes the best parts are shown and the rest of the movie is ok. However, the movie proved to be funnier then I imagined and wasn’t too over the top. For an added bonus there are a few references to the movie “Forgetting Sarah Marshall”. Be sure to check out this flick.

Plot:

In the horror comedy Zombieland focuses on two men who have found a way to survive a world overrun by zombies. Columbus is a big wuss — but when you’re afraid of being eaten by zombies, fear can keep you alive. Tallahassee is an AK-toting, zombie-slaying’ bad ass whose single determination is to get the last Twinkie on earth. As they join forces with Wichita and Little Rock, who have also found unique ways to survive the zombie mayhem, they will have to determine which is worse: relying on each other or succumbing to the zombies. (From IMDB.com)

My Review:
I went into this movie thinking I would be wasting $10. However, I was pleasantly surprised at how good this movie was. Usually zombie movies are cheesy and overdone. When you add a comedic twist to it, you have movie gold.

Abby Richter (Katherine Heigl) is a romantically challenged morning show producer whose search for Mr. Perfect has left her hopelessly single. She’s in for a rude awakening when her bosses team her with Mike Chadway (Gerald Butler), a hardcore TV personality who promises to spill the ugly truth on what makes men and women tick.
My Review:
Yes, its a chick flick. But Gerald Butler makes enough sexual, perverse jokes to make you forget that. Parts of the movie are predictable, really predictable. But I would watch it again. It has enough laughs to keep you into the movie till the end.

Plot:
Once, Tim Thomas (Will Smith) was a gifted aerospace engineer with a beautiful wife and a lovely beach house. Then, while using his cell phone while driving, his car wandered across lanes and he became responsible for the deaths of 7 others, including his beloved wife. Unable to forgive himself or raise the dead, Tim sets out to give “pounds of flesh” that will give new life to seven deserving individuals to make up for the seven lives he destroyed. Just as Antonio would have to die to pay Shylock the “pound of flesh” he demands, Tim intends to kill himself to atone for his sins. His brother Ben (Michael Ealy), who works for the IRS, is deeply concerned about his state of mind. Tim steals his brother’s IRS ID to access the IRS database and to find and meet people who he believes worthy of his gifts which includes body organs and material possessions. Holly Apelgren (Judyann Elder), Ezra Turner (Woody Harrelson), Connie Tepos (Elpidia Carrillo) and Emily Posa (Rosario Dawson) are among those whom he identifies to help. Furthermore, Tim assumes his brother’s identity of “Ben Thomas” to personally investigate these people and verify that they are indeed the right people he should help. He has a plan for when he identifies his 7 beneficiaries that requires his best friend Dan (Barry Pepper) to see that his wishes are carried out after he is dead. Tim’s plan threatens to unravel when he begins to fall in love with one of the people he is trying to help. (From IMDB.com)

My Review:
This movie has gotten a lot of crap, mostly because its not a huge blockbuster like most of Will Smith’s movies. I am a huge fan of Will Smith, and I thought he did a great job in this movie. Overall, it was slow in the beginning. It takes quite awhile for the full story to develop, but in the end their is closure and really is a great story.
