My office building's parking lot.

So you might have heard of the tornado’s in Massachusetts yesterday… right? Well that took place about a mile from my office building. The picture to the right is my company’s parking lot. Almost every single car parked in the parking lot had their windows shattered from the tornado. Never underestimate mother nature!

So in the mean time, I’m working from home while everything is cleaned up, getting my car repaired because my rear windshield is completely shattered, and just thankful that I’m still alive… hah. Great start to the month.

First off, I apologize for the lack of posts lately. Been busy with work and getting ready for my trip. I’m actually in Ottawa, Canada right now for the rest of the week. I’ll be spending some time with some college friends. So posts will be limited… maybe nonexistent. I’m not sure if I’ll have any internet access. I’m still at the airport right now using my free 15 minutes of wi-fi. So I’m going to post this before I get booted.

Site Upgrade & Misc.

So WordPress just released its latest update, version 2.8. I”m a little scared to update it and have everything on this site destroyed. But I guess it will have to happen sooner or later. I just upgraded my personal site, and everything seemed to go alright, but then again there are like 5 add-ons installed. If all proves well, then I’ll have to do the same for the 2 sites I manage at work.

Anywho, things are slowing down here, I’ll pick it back up. Just been having a crappy, lazy week and trying to get back on track. The weather is destroying any motivation that I have to do anything productive, no matter how trivial it is. I just got Zach & Miri Make a Porno on Blu-ray the other day, so I think I’m going to go watch that. I also got 007 Quantum Solace, but I feel like anything not funny will put me to sleep… which would be bad because its only 8:15.

But with that said, I’m off to go watch the movie and upgrade the site. Hopefully you’re reading this message because then that means everything went well and I haven’t completely given up on the internet yet.

California, Here I Come

Sorry I haven’t posted in the last few days, been busy hanging out with some of my college friends before they graduate themselves. I can’t believe I’ve been out of college for almost a year, pretty crazy! But good news, I’m going back for grad. school. I will either start this summer or in the fall.

Right now I’m trying to get ready for a short weekend trip to California. My best friends Dad is getting married this weekend, so my friend and I are off to celebrate away. Since I know you’ll miss my posts, I’ve scheduled a few over the next few days. I believe there’s 4 in total, so plenty to look forward to!

Sick at Home

I knew it was coming. Yesterday I was feeling kind of iffy, and this morning I woke up feeling like utter crap. Just couldn’t hold out until the weekend. One of the benefits of being sick while working in the real world is sick days. Tell me getting paid to nap and nurse yourself is not like some kind of incentive to get sick? Now we’ll just have to weigh being sick and getting paid and actually doing work, being healthy, and getting paid. Tough decisions here. But the good news is, I’m feeling a little bit better.

I’ve been doing a few things here and there on the website. I’m trying to relocate the ads because I think Google ads is interfering with the menu. I’ll keep looking into a solution for that. On every page, there is now a button. Before I had something similar just on the main page for each blog post, but I replaced it with a newer service and is now found on every page. WOO!

Last project that I’m working on right now is improving the comment system. Def. a work in progress, but we’ll see what I can come up with. So until my next post, stay healthy and have fun.

Netbooks & Life in General

Alright so about a month ago I got a new laptop. I love it to death. I thought I would use my older Dell here and there, but honestly, I turned it on about two times since then. So, I’m considering selling it and getting myself a netbook.

If you don’t know what a netbook is, its basically a tiny laptop usually 8 to 10 inches that’s used generally for surfing the net. They really aren’t that powerful so there’s really not much use for them to do anything else. Plus, they are dirt cheap, you can get a decent one for about $250-400. The last few weeks I’ve been tossing around the idea of picking one up.

The two models I’m considering are the HP Mini 1000 and the Dell Mini 9. Both are priced fairly similar. My friend’s dad actually has the HP Mini 1000 so I got to play around with that for a bit this past weekend. It’s pretty well built and overall a solid machine. Unfortunently I don’t believe I’ll get to play around with the Dell Mini 9 as they aren’t sold in stores… So if anyone has any experience with either, post a comment and tell me your thoughts.

Anywho, with my current job I just created a new job for my technology department. It goes live tomorrow but we had a test run with employee’s a few days ago. Its pretty different running a website for a company then a website for yourself. Mostly because you get a lot more feedback and a wide range of idea’s. It’s also has expanded my programming abilities as I’ve been editing add-ons like crazy to get things to work the way I want them too. Overall, a good experience and really expanding my experience with WordPress.

What else, what else… I went back to Quinnipiac (where I graduated from) over the weekend for the big game. QU vs. Yale. My friends and I splurged on some luxury box seats and had the time of our lives. Nothing better than a ridiculous buffet and a top shelf open bar. I rubbed elbows with the president, actually I almost took him out coming out of the bathroom… but minor details right there.

So, that sums up my life in a nutshell. Stay tuned for some new stuff.

New Laptop and Some Updates

Alrighty, once again, if you’re here for the first time, or just joining me after a haitus, P3K has changed its look. Hope you all like it, because I do. Right now I’m fixing up a few pages that were customized for the old look. Prig’s Digg’s has been updated and SpeedTest is now working again after the code expired.

Next part of the news, I’m posting this from my new laptop. I bought myself a Dell XPS M1530. I freaking love it. Its been a pain the past couple of days getting everything moved over and getting it setup the way I like it, but its almost there. Almost feels like my old laptop, but a hell of a lot faster… Here’s the specs…

2.4 ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB of RAM, 256 MB video card, a beautiful 15.4″ LED LCD glossy widescreen, and a very fast 128 GB SSD. Yeah that’s right, the hard drive makes up about 25% of the laptop’s value… But it was worth it. Soooo… that makes me a happy boy.

Alright, enough of me. Time to go searching for more pages that need some tender loving.

Waiting on my Baby

I’m about to get a new laptop any day now (whenever UPS decides to grace me with their prescence), and I’ll probaly go MIA for a few days just to get it in order and get my life back on track with it… So that’s the latest from me. I’ll post some specs. of it when I receive it… It’s pretty sick.

Black Friday and BlackBerry’s

Well Black Friday has come and gone. Anyone get anything cool? Nothing really caught my eye. I did go to a few stores and checked out what was on sale. I ended up picking up a few DVD’s… Forgetting Sarah Marshall ($9 at Target), Mr. and Mrs. Smith ($4/$5 at BestBuy), and I Am Legend ($17 at BestBuy, Blu-ray version). So not too shabby.

So now that the Christmas season has finally come, I guess I should make my Christmas list and start my Christmas shopping. Usually I’m a little more organized than this… crap.

I got a BlackBerry Curve on Wednesday. My whol family switched over to Verizon. They ended up sending us 9 cellphone’s instead of 5… The activiation process was NOT fun as I had to ifigure out which were the right cellphone’s to activate. The Curve is pretty sweet, took me awhile to get used to everything, but I’m getting pretty good at using it. However, I only have it until my BlackBerry Storm arrives… which should be in a week or so. Can’t wait for that.

Anyways, I really haven’t posted any funny video’s inawhile… Here’s a few to remind you of how awesome college is.

As funny as this video is, you should NEVER interfere with a girl getting ready for a night out… You may laugh now, but payback is a bitch… A huuuuuge bitch.

Everyone knows that your college bed is where you do the most work. You gotta pimp it out. But sometimes roommates get jealous of your cool bed…

This is why I’m glad I never went to a college with an engineering program. You never know what might just happen when you come back to your dorm. Thank god for imcompetent business students!

HD Overload

I’m trying my best to keep up with posting and managing my new working life. Kinda tough, but my body is slowly adjusting to the new schedule. Overall, work is going well. Learning a lot of cool stuff and its a lot of web-based work as well. Couldn’t have gotten a better job.

With a new job, comes new income, and that means I have to treat myself to a few new toys. Here’s what I have in store… My dad just upgraded our cable to a triple-play package… so that means HDTV… woo! I had HD when I was in my apartment during college, but when I moved home I didn’t. So that’s an upgrade… I have ordered a BlackBerry Storm. But due to its popularity/other issue’s, I won’t be getting that unil December 5th… But I am getting a BlackBerry Curve either Tuesday/Wednesday to use in the mean time. Now if those two things aren’t a nerds wet dream, then I don’t know what is… Oh wait, it gets better! I ordered Blu-Ray player this morning. Naturally, I had to order Planet Earth. And with all these new devices, I have an abudance of remotes, so I ordered a Harmony 550.

Yeah… Eventually I’m going to upgrade my TiVo to the new HD tuners. Then I can stream Netflix to it. I will probably never leave my room again… hah.

This weekend is getting cut short because I have a business conference to attend tomorrow. Should be interesting. I’ll be able to learn more about what my foundation does and meet the people I talk to on the phone. So that goes from tomorrow morning into Monday. Then I finish up the week working on Tuesday and Wednesday, then its turkey time! It will be nice to have a 4-day weekend and just catch up on some sleep and see some of my friends. Anywho, that’s my life in a nutshell. I’ll post some reviews when I get my new toys…
